Job Overview
Hawl Technologies, through its neurotechnology product Neurobase, is hiring a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technical vision and execution of its synthetic EEG data platform. This is a senior leadership role suited for experienced engineers or researchers with a strong background in neurotechnology, machine learning, and signal processing.
As CTO, you will play a critical role in building scalable systems, shaping product strategy, and growing the engineering team for an early-stage company operating at the intersection of neuroscience and AI.
This is a full-time role with remote or hybrid flexibility, hiring candidates based in Canada or the United States.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Design and implement scalable, production-ready systems for synthetic EEG data generation
- Lead development of the core data generation engine, APIs, and platform services
- Drive research initiatives to improve data realism, accuracy, and performance
- Establish engineering standards for testing, documentation, and deployment
Team & Collaboration
- Recruit and build an initial engineering team, scaling as the company grows
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation
- Collaborate closely with founders, researchers, and early customers
Requirements / Qualifications
Required
- PhD in Neuroscience, Neuroengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Neuroscience or 5+ years of industry experience in neurotechnology or related fields
- Strong background in signal processing, machine learning, or computational neuroscience
- Proficiency in Python, including libraries such as NumPy and SciPy
- Experience leading technical teams or large engineering projects
- Product-oriented mindset with experience shipping real-world systems
Preferred
- Experience in EEG, neurofeedback, BCI, or medical device companies
- Research publications in neuroscience or signal processing
- Startup or technical co-founder experience
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building and scaling APIs
- Knowledge of medical device or healthcare regulations

Benefits
- Base salary: $100,000 – $150,000 USD
- Equity: 2.5% – 3.5% ownership stake (vesting applies)
