Key Responsibilities
- Theme Architecture: Develop and maintain complex Shopify themes from scratch or using “Dawn” frameworks, fully compatible with Online Store 2.0.
- Custom Feature Development: Create schema-driven custom sections allowing merchants to manage content without touching code.
- Performance Engineering: Optimize load times and Core Web Vitals scores using Liquid profiling and modern frontend techniques.
- Platform Problem Solving: Diagnose bugs in Liquid, app conflicts, or backend issues requiring senior intervention.
- Integrations & Tooling: Use Shopify CLI and Git-based workflows to manage deployments and collaborate.
- Merchant Success: Convert Figma mockups into responsive, pixel-perfect Shopify storefronts, advising on Shopify-native best practices.
Requirements / Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in Shopify theme development
- Expert in Liquid templating, including complex logic, metafields/metaobjects
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (Tailwind welcome) and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Experience with Online Store 2.0, JSON templates, sections everywhere, app blocks
- Knowledge of Shopify AJAX API and Git
- Consultative mindset, independent ownership, growth-oriented
